Quilt Block Competition for the 2026 Blue Valley Farm Show, August 11-15
Quilt Block Competition for the 2026 Blue Valley Farm Show The Blue Valley Farm Show is excited to introduce a new Quilt Block Competition for the 2026 Farm Show, and I am reaching out to ask for the Quilters Guild’s participation and partnership. Exhibitors will create one quilt block measuring 12½” x 12½” (including seam allowances) following a designated theme (to be announced). Blocks must be 100% cotton, prewashed and treated to prevent bleeding, and may not include buttons, charms, or paint. The competition will include four judged classes: Pieced Adult (19 & over), Pieced Youth (18 & under), Appliquéd Adult (19 & over), and Appliquéd Youth (18 & under), with monetary prizes awarded. Each exhibitor may enter one block per category, and all exhibitors must be pre-registered with the Blue Valley Farm Show during pre-registration nights in late July/early August. All blocks will be displayed during the Blue Valley Farm Show, held August 11–15, 2026, and will then become the property of the Blue Valley Farm Show, Inc. Following the show, I am hoping the guild would be willing to partner with us by assembling the blocks into a finished quilt, which will then be offered through an online auction or raffled of. Full competition details, including the final theme and entry information, will be published in the Farm Show premium book in May, with finalized guidelines available by late March. -Laura Kromer Blue Valley Farm Show Cindy Sowinski
